Worldwide commemoration of terror victims

In different countries, the victims of terrorist attacks are commemorated on a global scale for the first time on Tuesday.

According to Secretary-General António Guterres of the UN, the 'moral obligation' exists to support victims and their families. 'After an attack we rarely hear about those who died or were injured. Or about the stragglers who have to deal with the burden of terrorism for the rest of their lives. They must speak out and we must acknowledge the consequences of an attack. ''

The initiative seems to have to come on stream in the EU. According to the UN Regional Information Center in Brussels, the Netherlands and France, for example, do nothing about it.

In Brussels, a ceremony is foreseen at the National Monument to commemorate terror victims. From 11 o'clock there are some short speeches and there is a moment of reflection.
