Window cleaner saves mural Banksy

A mural by the famous graffiti artist Banksy was saved by a window cleaner after vandals were painted over it.

Banksy had a disused bridge in the English port city of Hull, which is now permanently open, adorned with a boy with a wooden sword. On Sunday evening it became clear that someone had painted the image white. Window cleaner Jason Fanthorpe came into action with water and turpentine to save as much of the artwork as possible.

'Whether or not you like Banksy, he has international prestige and he gave the city a gift,' said Fanthorpe to the BBC. His cleaning action has made the image somewhat vaguer.

Hull intends to give the graffiti a protective layer.
