WhatsApp three days blocked in Brazil

The Internet service WhatsApp used by tens of millions of people in Brazil is blocked in the country for 72 hours.

The drastic step was ordered by Judge Marcel Montalvão, who also possessed the beginning of March on the brief arrest of Vice President Diego Dzodan Facebook in South America. In both cases, the aim was that the companies refuse conversation protocols of alleged drug traffickers available to the judiciary. If telecom operators fail to implement the verdict, they risk fines of the equivalent of 127 000 per day, the judge said.

The Brazilian Justice continuously attempts to gain access to chat protocols on possible criminal offenses.
