WhatsApp increases minimum age users

Message service WhatsApp increases the minimum age for European users.

WhatsApp will ask users to confirm that they are at least sixteen years old. They must therefore agree to new user conditions. The company wants to ensure that it complies with new privacy legislation that will take effect next month.

It is still unclear whether and how the organization wants to check whether people meet the criterion.

Approximately 1.5 billion people worldwide use the messaging service, says parent company Facebook. For the time being, the age limit only changes in the European Union. The service is popular among teenagers.
