Vote computer HAL 9000 died

Actor Douglas Rain, best known as the calm voice of the murderous computer HAL 9000 in Stanley Kubrick's film 2001: A Space Odyssey, died on Sunday in the Canadian city of Stratford at the age of ninety.

The death of Rain was announced by the Stratford Festival, the Canadian theater company of which Rain was one of the founders in 1953.

Rain was an acclaimed actor, but he will be remembered most for his performance in Kubrick's film.
