Violence between Turks and Kurds claims lives

Fighting between Turkish forces and Kurdish militants have again claimed lives on both sides.

The profound conflict between the Turkish state and the Kurds flared again last year after a truce of two and a half years. The latest victims died by gunfire in Cizre, near the border with Syria, and in the provincial capital Diyarbakir.

Not only human lives are devastated by the conflict. The historic district of Sur in Diyarbakir, surrounded by Roman walls, has big damage by the fighting of the past few months. Residents of a large portion of the district is already almost two months may not show on the street.
