Vienna: clarification about German asylum compromise

The Austrian government wants quick clarification of the consequences of the compromise reached in Germany on migration policy.

The two conservative German parties agreed, among other things, that transit centers for asylum seekers are being set up in the border area with Austria. It is still unclear whether their coalition partner SPD can also find itself in the plans. The Social Democratic Party must still consider this.

The Austrian government is meanwhile saying that it will take action to prevent 'adverse consequences for Austria and its population' if Germany introduces its own measures to 'fight migratory flows. 'Vienna is, among other things, prepared to take measures to protect its own southern border.
