Venice is dry

If you were planning a romantic trip to Venice, you better wait.

That reports the AD. Extremely dry weather combined with extreme low tides have ensured that the muddy bottom of many Venetian canals is visible. The water level has dropped by more than 60 cm.

A large part of the canals are closed, but some are still accessible for water traffic. The water level of the famous Grand Canal has also fallen by more than 50 cm, but it is still accessible to the gondolas.

The Blue superblood moon, which was on Wednesday, caused extreme low tide on one side of the world and flooding on the other.
