USA: OPCW inspectors kept away from Douma

The United States suspects that Russia and Syria are trying to keep OPCW researchers out of Douma, where possible an attack has been carried out with chemical weapons.

'We have credible information that suggests Russian officials are working with the Syrian regime to delay these inspectors and deny access to Douma,' said a spokeswoman for the US Department of State. She stated that 'incriminating evidence about the use of chemical weapons' is being removed.

The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) has sent a team to Syria to investigate the alleged attack. The researchers were forced to postpone their visit to Douma this week after United Nations security officers were shot during a reconnaissance mission.
