Unrest Honduras to presidential election

Friday riots broke out in Honduras after the announcement of the results of the presidential elections was postponed again.

In the disturbances at least one died and several people were injured. The Honduran government has given the police more powers to deal with troublemakers.

The elections were held five days ago, but since then it is still unclear who won them. The difference between the incumbent President Juan Hernandez and the challenger Salvador Nasralla would be slightly in favor of Hernandez. Saturday continues with counting.

The protests initially went peaceful, but ended up in riots. Stores were also looted. The UN called on the candidates to calm down their supporters.

The president (49) is a moderate figure who conducts a US-friendly policy. His challenger is the center-left-oriented presenter of a TV show, which initially seemed to be gaining in the polls for the elections.
