UN: concerns about Gaza, threatens deterioration

A senior UN official warned in the Security Council that in Gaza 'the situation may deteriorate in the coming days.

UN official Taye-Brook Zerihoun urged Israel to adhere to international human rights and protect children. According to Palestine, children died in the protests. Secretary General Antonio Guterres called for an independent investigation into the dead and wounded.

The radical Islamic Hamas wants to support the 'right of return' for Palestinian refugees through the action. There were about 30,000 participants.

Israeli soldiers were aiming at wheel turners, as the army had also announced on Friday. Protesters threw burning car tires, Molotov cocktails and stones to the military.
