UN base attacked in northern Mali

A base of peacekeepers from the United Nations in northern Mali was attacked Friday.

The peacekeepers responded by sending a jet in the sky to find the terrorists. After calm returned the security measures were tightened.

The attack came on the day when the German president arrives in Mali. Germany currently leads the European mission to strengthen the Malian army and sends therefor 650 additional peacekeeping troops to the country.

Netherlands also has peacekeepers in Mali, but they are mostly stationed in Gao.
