Ukrainian coup suspect remains stuck

A Ukrainian court has decided that parliamentarian Nadja Savchenko must remain in custody for 59 days.

Savchenko got a hero status in Ukraine during her imprisonment in Russia. The authorities now suspect the former air force pilot of a conspiracy to attack the parliament and kill President Petro Poroshenko. The parliament decided Thursday to cancel the immunity of the politician, after which she was arrested.

Savchenko announced during the session to go on hunger strike. She did that before during her trial in Russia. 'I will show the Ukrainian people what a real hero is,' the politician said Friday. Savchenko does not deny that she is ready for the fall of the government, but says that the authorities have fabricated the conspiracy to discredit her.
