Uber software under review US Justice

The US Department of Justice is going to investigate software programs that Uber Technologies would use in order to deliberately violate the rules in certain regions.

Uber previously recognized the existence of the software, known as Greyball. This would allow officials to bypass controls in areas where the taxi service has not yet been approved. Government officials could be identified by the software and can not book a ride at Uber.

One of the regions was in and around the US city of Portland, where Uber used the software '' sparingly '' prior to its approval for service in 2015. The New York Times earlier revealed the existence of Greyball, which leads to a wave of negative Publicity led. According to Uber, the software was developed for other purposes, namely checking rides to prevent fraud. Also, the drivers would provide protection.
