Turkish bank manager stuck in US

The US has arrested the second man in America by the Turkish state bank Halkbank because for years he would have evaded US sanctions against Iran.

The two were for hundreds of millions of dollars of transactions done on behalf of the Iranian state and other organizations in the country through US banks. After the announcement of the arrest Iranian lira slumped 1 percent against the dollar.

The case puts the relations between Turkey and the US under pressure. The Turkish foreign minister announced calling to discuss the matter with his US colleague as he Ankara.
