Turkey leaves German businesswoman free

Turkey has released a German businesswoman who was arrested in Istanbul on Wednesday.

Against the originally Turkish woman had previously been a trial in connection with the failed coup attempt in Turkey in 2016. She was suspected of ties with the spiritual Fethullah Gülen but was acquitted in that case.

That acquittal, and the abolition of a travel ban, apparently did not end up in the administration of the border police. When the woman wanted to travel to Switzerland from Turkey, she was arrested.

According to the German Foreign Ministry, Turkey currently holds five people with a German passport on political grounds.
