Trump welcomes released missionary

American missionary Josh Holt, who was released by Venezuela, was welcomed to the White House on Saturday by US President Donald Trump.

The American was trapped in the South American country since 2016. Holt, a Mormon missionary, was in Venezuela for his wedding. He was arrested for violating the weapons legislation.

Trump called Holt 'incredibly brave' and called captivity 'a difficult situation'. The release of Holt came a day after a meeting between Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro and Senator Bob Corker, the president of the US senate committee for foreign relations.
