Trump wanted Clinton and Comey to be prosecuted

US President Donald Trump wanted to direct the Justice Department to prosecute his two political rivals, presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and former FBI director James Comey.

Advisor McGahn replied to the president with a memo in which he outlined the consequences for Trump if he ordered the prosecution. These varied from a refusal by the Ministry of Justice to the Congress's decision to proceed with a deposition procedure by the President, because he could be accused of abuse of power.
