Trump receives Merkel at White House

The US president Donald Trump on Friday received German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the White House.

Merkel was friendly but business received by Trump. The Chancellor gave a handshake to go inside then. While at the Trump usually different was this brief handshake. The two talk with each other, after which a press conference follows. Then a working dinner provided. Merkel flies back to Berlin again on Friday.

Relations between the United States and Europe are under high voltage. Trump has little in common with the EU and is mainly engaged in his America First policy. Merkel, however, is pro-European and wants to collaborate, for example in the field of the environment.

In the wake of Merkel are also, for example executives of Siemens and BMW traveled. For these companies the US is an important market.
