Trump nominates Milley as a top soldier

President Donald Trump nominates four-star general Mark Milley as the new US top soldier.

It is not known when Milley takes over the position of Dunford. The Senate still has to agree with Trump's proposal.

The nomination comes much sooner than expected. Dunford has been commander-in-chief since 2011. He would normally drop off on October 1st next year. The president already announced on Friday that he would appoint a new top soldier on Saturday.
