Trump invited Putin into White House

US President Donald Trump last month invited his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to come to the White House.

Trump called Putin after his electoral victory and then said that they would meet in the foreseeable future.

In the two weeks since that conversation, the relationship between the two countries has been soured. Trump has expelled sixty Russian diplomats in response to the attack on a Russian former double spy in England. Russia paid back with the same currency by expelling 60 US diplomats and closing the US consulate in St Petersburg.

Despite the sharp measures, Trump did not comment in public on the attack with a nerve gas on British soil. He did not start on this during the telephone conversation either.
