Trump has Democrat in mind as Minister of Defense

US President Donald Trump is considering appointing Jim Webb, a former Democratic Senator, as Minister of Defense as the successor to Jim Mattis.

Webb has government experience with Republicans. Under Ronald Reagan he was a minister of Navy for a year.

Webb is known as an outspoken opponent of the war in Iraq. According to the NYT, he may have come into the picture to make the withdrawal of American troops from Syria and Afghanistan, which Trump promised, as smoothly as possible.
