Torture in containers

The living conditions of tens of prisoners in South Sudan are atrocious.

The human rights organization addresses the accusations of the authorities in South Sudan. Many prisoners were killed by beatings. As they are beaten by soldiers, they have no contact with the outside world and get them to eat only once a week.

Amnesty concludes via satellite which has four metal containers about 20 kilometers from the capital Juba. In it, the prisoners detained without trial for their lives. Most prisoners are in accordance with the organization civilians suspected of involvement with a former rebel movement. That group was led by the current vice president of the country, Riek Machar.

Amnesty International's President Salva Kiir called for an end to the abuses. Commenting let his spokesman know that South Sudan has no such containers and Kiir has not received any reports on the subject. According to the spokesman, the rumors merely seek to do the country split in two.
