Tomorrowland visitors died from water poisoning

The cause of death of two female visitors to the Tomorrowland dance festival last July in Boom, Belgium, is still drug-related.

The women would have become unwell after using ecstasy. They were admitted to the hospital, where they died a few days later. Initially it was denied that drugs would have played a role.

According to experts, the women died from water poisoning caused by the use of xtc in combination with the hot temperatures. Both victims did not have Belgian nationality. One woman was Indian, another woman Czech.

By taking xtc a hormone is created that has a 'water-retaining' effect. Through the combination of xtc, sweating in the heat and dancing, the two women drank excessive water.
