The Netherlands keeps Sea Watch 3 on the chain

The rescue ship for migrants Sea Watch 3 will stay on for two weeks at the port of Catania in Sicily.

The ship must not leave the port because further inspections must be carried out by the Dutch Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT). Their Italian colleagues discovered last week that the ship does not comply with safety regulations and also violates the environmental rules. The report will be finished in two weeks. In the meantime, according to the inspection, work may also be carried out to remedy any identified defects.
