Suspect arrested 24 years after attack

The Australian police arrested a suspect because of a deadly bomb attack in 1994.

The attack with a package bomb in Adelaide was directed against police service NCA. A policeman was killed after the explosive was delivered to an office of the National Crime Authority. Another man was injured.

The now 61-year-old suspect had also been seen before, but there was insufficient evidence to convict him. He is now being prosecuted for murder and attempted murder. The man was arrested half a year before the explosion by the later victim. The detective then investigated organized crime.

In 2016, the police announced that steps had been taken in the investigation. Thanks to new techniques, DNA was found on the remnants of the explosive. The authorities eventually sent 65 objects to the NFI for further investigation.
