Surgeon burned initials in liver: 10,000 euros fine

A British surgeon who burned his initials in the livers of two patients is sentenced to 120 hours of work and 10,000 euros of fine.

Simon Bramhall (53) used an argon beam in February 2013, which can be used to stop bleeding from livers or indicate specific places to write his initials 'SB'.

A doctor at the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham spotted the initials during a follow-up treatment. They were four inches tall.

The spores eventually disappear automatically, and the function of the liver is not affected. However, patients were shocked. According to The Guardian, they would suffer psychological damage according to prosecutors.
