At least six strikers were injured when the police chased activists with tear gas, among other things. Travelers were also unwell with tear gas and some were evacuated to a parking lot. The leader of the aeronautical workers union, Moses Ndiema, was arrested and deported at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) airfield.
