Storm front paralyzes German traffic

A thunderstorm that drew over Germany on Thursday caused considerable disruption in traffic, both on the road, by air and on the railway.

In many places in northern Germany train traffic came to a standstill in the evening. Several routes have been closed. The timetable has been adjusted on others. The Deutsche Bahn has set up trainsets to accommodate stranded passengers at many stations, including large ones such as Dortmund, Hanover, Braunschweig and Berlin.
