Still insufficient knowledge about resuscitation

Dutch people still do not know what to do if someone gets a cardiac arrest.

The knowledge about using an automatic external defibrillator (AED) has increased slightly. A total of 80 percent know what an AED is. That was 76 percent two years ago. However, few people (a quarter) know how the device works.

'The low knowledge about resuscitation is serious. It is vital that the Dutch teaches massive learning and teach the AED, 'said Gijs de Vries, director of the Dutch Red Cross.' If resuscitation is started within 6 minutes and the AED is used, the survival rate of A victim significantly. We therefore call on everyone to do a resuscitation course. '
