State TV: ten deaths from Irans demonstrations

At least ten people have been killed so far during the demonstrations in Iran.

Since Thursday people in Iran are taking to the streets, especially to protest against the government. It is dominated by conservative Shiite clergy. The reason for the protests include corruption suspicions and the lack of economic progress.

At the weekend, the authorities reported that during the protests two people had died in the town of Dorud, about 350 kilometers southwest of the capital Tehran. According to the deputy governor of the province of Loreastan, foreign agents or jihadists were possibly involved in the acts of violence that demanded two lives.

An urgent session of the parliament is planned for New Year's Day.
