Spotify spawns artists with new service

Music service Spotify is trying to improve its image among musicians and record labels.

From our DFT editorial Spotify announced Tuesday that it is launching a beta version of Fan Insights. This allows artists gain access to the combined data of the 75 million Spotify users. A band may for example find that on the other side of the globe is a club enthusiasts, and that it might be a good idea to schedule a tour there. And surely some record companies will be providing information on the composition of the fan base. At the same time the service for Spotify is a possibility to artists show that it nevertheless is useful to provide to their music on the platform. Singer Taylor Swift took its music from Spotify because the fee per streamed number is too low.
