Special find under Buckingham floor

Under the floor of Buckingham Palace remains have been found from the reign of Queen Victoria.

The British royal family shared some photos of the found objects on Friday. The piece of newspaper comes from the Evening Standard of November 7, 1889. One of the articles talks about a collection of letters from the count of Chesterfield.

The cigarette packs are from Player's Navy Cut, Woodbine and Piccadilly, brands that were popular in the nineteenth century. It is assumed that they were thrown away by courtiers at the court of Queen Victoria.

The workmen, who have been working on a major renovation of Buckingham Palace since April, were surprised by the find, as the palace tells the Daily Mail. 'It is intriguing to think about who read these pages,' said a spokesperson about the newspaper found.
