SPD & # x27; ers determine whether & # x27; big coalition & # x27; Merkel continues

The SPD will let you know on Sunday whether the party wants to continue with Angela Merkel.

A lot of SPD people, partly in view of the polls that are dramatic for the party, want 'completely out of the shadow of Merkel'. Yet it is expected that more than half (around 55 percent) of SPD voters are in favor of a new 'big coalition' or GroKo. Then once the longest formation period in Germany, Chancellor Merkel 12 or 13 March in the Bundestag can take the oath as head of government. It then becomes her fourth cabinet.

If the SPD rejects the plan to continue to rule with the Christian Democrats, new elections will probably come. It is possible that Merkel from the political scene disappears and the Christian Democratic CDU is looking for a new face.

An estimated 120 volunteers are counting at the SPD headquarters in Berlin, the Willy Brandt House.
