Spain gets almost 600 migrants from the sea

Spanish rescue services and border guards picked up nearly 600 migrants out of a total of 18 boats from the sea this weekend, the Spanish news agency Europa Press reported.

After reconnaissance flights with helicopters and planes, relief workers saved approximately 290 migrants from the boats on Saturday with which they made the crossing.

Another 250 migrants were rescued on Sunday. Some of the boats that were used during the crossing were in such a bad condition that they sank shortly after the rescue operation.
