Soros financial support for anti-Brexit campaign

The billionaire George Soros appears to be the main sponsor of a British campaign to launch a new Brexit referendum.

Opponents of Brexit want to hold numerous demonstrations in the course of this year and will also actively advertise, according to plans from Battle for Britain, the organization behind the campaign. Battle for Britain attempted to spawn Conservative lenders in recent weeks to support their efforts towards a new referendum. Nick Timothy, the right-hand man of Prime Minister Theresa May last year, heard about the plans and reported on them in the newspaper The Daily Telegraph.

According to Timothy, it is an attempt to overthrow the government of Theresa May. This struggles with finding a common position on the form Brexit should receive. Proponents of a hard line- away with the internal market and the customs union- openly argue with cabinet members who think that such a step causes too much damage.

The involvement of Soros is also salient. He was responsible 25 years ago for the departure of the British from the European Monetary System, the forerunner of the euro. At the time he speculated on a price drop of the pound. When this happened, he earned over 1 billion pounds.

The echec caused the flare-up of anti-EU sentiments in the United Kingdom. He now uses part of the proceeds to repair the damage he has caused- he is an opponent of Brexit.
