Socialists lead the government of New Zealand

New Zealand has a new government led by the Social Democrats, despite the sounding victory of the conservative party in the September elections.

The socialists will rule with the Greens and the populist NZF. The latter party chose to go to sea with Labor, leaving the conservatives out of play. NZF also supplies Vice-Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs with 72-year-old Winston Peters.

The coalition has a majority of 63 out of 120 seats in parliament.
