Slovaks argue against the extreme right gains

Thousands of people have taken to the streets Monday in Slovakia to protest against the far-right People's Party OnsSlowakije (LSNs).

Slovaks went to the polls Saturday for parliamentary elections. By 8 percent of the electorate to win for yourself, get LSNs fourteen of the 150 seats in parliament. It is the first time an extreme-right party is in the Slovak parliament. The party is against refugees and Roma. Founder and party leader Kotleba has repeatedly sued for racism and right-wing extremism, but not convicted so far.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico suffered a heavy defeat. His Social Democratic Smer party fell from 44 percent in the last election back to 28.3 percent, but remains the largest party.
