Slovak president accepts government plan

Slovak President Andrej Kiska has accepted Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini's government plan and approved the list of ministers.

The social-democratic government party Smer chose Pellegrini as the successor to Robert Fico. This last week got up after all the commotion by the murder of investigative journalist Ján Kuciak, who among other things wrote about ties between Slovakian politicians and dubious businessmen. The population massively took to the streets to protest.

Kiska had rejected a previous proposal from Pellegrini, mainly because he wanted another government minister at Home Affairs. The new man or woman in this department must ensure that there is an independent investigation into the death of Kuciak and his girlfriend.
