Ship with migrants may moor in Italy

A Danish container ship with rescued migrants on board is allowed to moor in Italy.

Earlier this month, Italy refused another ship with migrants. The new predominantly right-wing populist government of Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte wanted to send a signal to the rest of Europe that the country is fed up with the refugee flow. Spain eventually allowed that ship.

The Danish ship with 113 rescued migrants on board waited for permission to dock on Friday evening. 'We will welcome these people with the same humanity as always,' said Mayor Roberto Ammatuna.
