Ship illegally delivered fuel to N-Korea

The South Korean authorities have inspected a ship that would have supplied fuel to a North Korean vessel in international waters.

The South Korean customs boarded the ship Lighthouse Winmore when it docked at the port of Yeosu at the end of November, government officials say to Yonhap. The vessel, which sailed under the flag of Hong Kong, had fuel at that port in early October. It would then continue to Taiwan.

The South Koreans state that the crew transported the fuel to a North Korean ship and three vessels from other countries. The authorities have announced that the violation will be passed on to the UN Security Council Committee that monitors compliance with the sanctions.
