Seven Venezuelans on European sanction list

The European Union will put seven Venezuelans affiliated with the regime of President Nicolas Maduro on a sanction list.

The ambassadors of the member states have agreed, report sources in Brussels. Ministers will ratify the decision soon.

In November, the EU forbade the delivery of weapons to Venezuela and other goods that could be used to suppress the population. Preparations were also started for sanctions against human rights violators.

Maduro put aside the parliament last year, which had to make room for a friendly Constituent Assembly. The oil-rich South American country is in a severe economic crisis. Many basic necessities are not available.
