Senate committee wants Gina Haspel as CIA boss

A US Senate committee voted Wednesday for Gina Haspel as the new director of the CIA.

The Intelligence Commission voted behind closed doors with ten to five for Haspel's nomination. That was expected after two of the seven Democratic members, Vice-President Mark Warner and Joe Manchin, had said they would join the eight Republicans of the commission in their support for Haspel.

Trump nominated the Vice President Haspel for 33 years at the CIA, in order to succeed Mike Pompeo as director. Haspel became acting director of the office when Pompeo Trumps became second minister of foreign affairs.
