Senate agrees with Haspel as CIA boss

The US Senate has in majority consented to the appointment of Gina Haspel as the first female boss of the CIA.

Her nomination by Trump was controversial for a long time because Haspel, already working for the Intelligence Service for 33 years, had committed herself in the past with ruthless interrogation methods, including waterboarding. The Republican Senator John McCain, a Vietnam veteran who has not been in Washington for months because of a brain tumor, called for his colleagues to vote against her.
