Sea turtle washes up in bar stool

A sad picture on the beautiful white beach in Florida.

The rare Kemps sea turtle, which is threatened with extinction, was found by beach guests.

'The turtle got stuck and could not free itself,' volunteer Sharon Maxwell of the South Walton Turtle Watch tells The Independent. The turtle was probably dead for a while. Identifying an exact cause of death is therefore difficult according to the organization.

Maxwell thinks that the bar stool may have fallen from a boat or landed in the ocean in some other way.

In the past, the Kemps sea turtles, the smallest in the world, were often trapped in shrimp fishery nets. According to the World Wildlife Fund, most of the nets in the Kemps sea turtle habitat now have a special hatch. This allows the turtles to escape better.
