Sea battle for Norman scallops

Tragic British-French conflicts about fishing for scallops in Norman waters have led to a real sea battle.

British fishermen speak of life-threatening conditions and have asked the Navy for protection. An estimated 40 French boats had gathered on Tuesday to dislodge British fishermen. According to the Norman fishermen, they carry overroots on the shells.

The French government prohibits fishermen from catching this delicacy between 15 May and 1 October. However, the British are not bound by that fishing ban. The French colleagues demand that they stick to it in solidarity and then not come to fish for scallops.
