Russians on the streets against a higher retirement age

Thousands of Russians have once again taken to the streets on Sunday to demonstrate against the increase of the retirement age.

The retirement age in Russia for men is increased from 60 to 65 and for women from 55 to 60, that was still 63. The life expectancy for men in Russia is 66.

The demonstrators represent all political movements in Russia. Even Putin's supporters have gone out into the streets because they do not agree with the plan. The popularity of the president has dropped considerably.

Putin says, however, that the plans are necessary because the Russian population is aging.
