Russian singer kept out of Eurovision

The Russian singer Julia Samoilova may not occur during the Eurovision in Ukraine this year.

There was an investigation against the singer, who is in a wheelchair. In Ukraine there is a hefty prison sentence on traveling to Crimea on Russian territory. Kiev had earlier intention not to want to make an exception for her.

Crimea was taken during a violent political crisis in Ukraine by Russia in March 2014. Approximately half of the two million population is Russian, but internationally, the peninsula is occupied book.
