Russia wants Security Council session to Syria

Russia wants the United Nations Security Council to meet on Thursday on the situation in East Ghouta.

In the rebel stronghold near Damascus, hundreds of people would have been killed in a few days due to heavy shelling and air strikes. Moscow, which supports the Assad regime, previously denied that the Russian Air Force is responsible for civilian deaths in the enclave. A spokesman for the Kremlin stressed that there is no evidence for such accusations, which come, among other things, from insurgents in East Ghouta.
