Russia fires IS with cross missiles

From Russian naval ships in the Mediterranean Sea, four cruising missiles were fired on positions of the Islamic State terrorist movement in Syria.

According to Moscow, warriors and equipment from IS were recently drawn from Raqqa to the Palmyra area. The Russian Ministry of Defense has warned Turkey, the US and Israel in advance of the bombing. The ancient city of Palmyra is located in the desert, about 220 kilometers northeast of Damascus.

In May 2015, the warriors of IS took the place. In March 2016, the Syrian military forces Palmyra recovered with support from militias and Russian fighter aircraft, but in December, IS fighters re-entered the city. In March, IS has withdrawn from the city again.
